Hear Our Voice offers young people in Cornwall the opportunity, within a supportive group or one to one environment, to explore issues related to their mental health. The project works in an informal youth work style that aims to develop mental health awareness, raise self-esteem, encourage creativity, challenge stigma and promote a positive, holistic attitude to mental health. We understand and value young peoples mental health needs and experiences, through advocacy and support we empower young people to voice their views, to people in positions of power within their lives, whether personal or political.
We work with young people (in the 11-25 age range) who have a mental health difficulties or who may be at risk e.g. young people who; self-harm, are excluded from school, are in or leaving care, have chronic or life threatening illnesses, are socially and or/rurally isolated, are in or leaving acute psychiatric wards and those who fall through the net and find it difficult to engage with statutory provision.
Young people can refer themselves to the project by ringing the above number and speaking to one of the workers or by dropping into our office. Groups are meeting at various locations around Cornwall please ring for up to the minute details.
Hear Our Voice is based on the 1st floor of 61, Lemon Street. The office is open Monday - Friday 9.30am to 5pm other times by arrangement.
There is a 24-hour answer phone in operation outside of office hours.
