EEFO approved service

YMCA Cornwall operates an ambitious programme of activities and services including:

Youth Programme

- Marazion Youth Club

Running on Thursday afternoons, 3.30pm to 5pm at Marazion School each week approximately 20 young people aged between 
9 and 11 years of age attend the youth club.


- Penzance YMCA

All the activities are open to both members and non-members of the YMCA aged
10-25. Youth Club runs on Friday nights from 4:30pm to 8.30pm, there are approximately 100 young people on the register.


- Young Womens Group


Tuesday nights from 4.30pm to 6.30pm for ages 10+

Summer Activity Programme:

During the 6 week summer holidays the youth clubs close in the evening and the
Youth & Community Team put on a variety of day time activities and trips
for young people who attend the youth clubs. Trips include; Crealy Adventure
Park, Beach trips, Tehidy Woods Orienteering, Snorkel Safari and sports activities.


During the course of a week YMCA Cornwall programme staff work with around
100-150 different young people.


Accommodation

The YMCA operates a 48 bed hostel, which is used by backpackers, visiting schools,
colleges from home and abroad, offering educational, adventure and an "international"
experience.


Housing

-ST LEVEN WING

Provides temporary accommodation for nine young people.


- Appletree House

Purpose built supported housing accommodation, offering supported housing for
twelve young people.


- Cherrytree House

Opened in March 2004, another purpose built supported housing project for nine
young people developed in partnership with Penwith Housing Association.


The YMCA also operates a Youth Housing Support Team offering housing advice,
resettlement and support for young people that are experiencing homelessness.
This includes support and advice to those people accommodated on an emergency
basis at the YMCA having been referred by the local District Council. The work
of the housing team also includes preventative work in schools and colleges.
