Children, Young People and Family Services
WHAT IS CHILDREN, YOUNG PEOPLE AND FAMILY SERVICES?
Cornwall’s Children, Young People and Family Services were formed in August
2005 as a department of Cornwall County Council. The new department was created
with the split of Children’s Services and Adult Social Care under the old Social
Services Department and the merger with Education.
The Director of the new Department is Mr Dean Ashton who is based in New County
Hall, Truro, 01872 322000, email enquiries.social@cornwall.gov.uk
WHAT SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE TO CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE?
Services are available to help children and young people with physical or learning
disabilities, or sight/hearing loss, and vulnerable children and families. The
Department also has a special duty to protect children and young people from
neglect and abuse.
HOW DO I FIND OUT MORE?
Your nearest Social Care office will give you more details about any of our
