WHAT IS CHILDREN, YOUNG PEOPLE AND FAMILY SERVICES?
Cornwall’s Children, Young People and Family Services were formed in August
2005 as a department of Cornwall County Council. The new department was created
with the split of Children’s Services and Adult Social Care under the old Social
Services Department and the merger with Education.

WHAT SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE TO CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE?
Services are available to help children and young people with physical or learning
disabilities, or sight/hearing loss, and vulnerable children and families. The
Department also has a special duty to protect children and young people from
neglect and abuse.

All publications are free of charge and are available in large print, on computer
disk, or in other formats as required. Publications are also available online

CONTACTING CHILDREN, YOUNG PEOPLE AND FAMILY SERVICES
Social Care offices are open from 8.45am to 5.15pm, Monday to Thursday and 8.45am
to 4.45pm on Friday. The offices are accessible for wheelchair users and have
induction loop systems for people with hearing aides. There are also private
interviewing facilities.
