A mentor is a sympathetic and friendly adult who is willing to spend time with you and help you set goals for yourself and will stick with you until you achieve your aims.

What else can you expect from a mentor?

You can expect a mentor to:

- offer you regular, individual, personal support

- listen to you and your concerns

- offer sound advice

- challenge you to do what you say youre going to do

- take a real interest in you and your progress

- encourage you to find new and interesting things to do

- support you in contacting others who may be able to help

- stick with you for as long as you want support

- encourage you to stretch yourself with new experiences

- let you know how well you are doing in relation to your efforts

WILL I HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS?
No, there is no cost to you.

HOW OFTEN WILL WE MEET?
Probably for about 1 hour each week on average. It is flexible and up to you.

CAN I CHOOSE MY MENTOR?
We will do our best to match you with a suitable mentor.

HOW LONG CAN I HAVE ONE FOR?
Again this is up to you but the maximum would be for about a year.

WHAT IF WE DON’T GET ON?
If you really can’t get on, we will do our best to make other arrangements.

WHERE WILL I MEET MY MENTOR?
Your mentor will come and meet you at a place of your choice for example, this could be near where you live.
