Consultation, Consultation, Consultation

No doubt some of you have inwardly, or even outwardly, groaned when you read the headline above.  You’ve probably been ‘consulted’ to death recently, but this is not consultation for consultation sake, this is your opportunity to shape the future of children and young people’s services in the county.

Cornwall’s Children & Young People’s Partnership want to involve children and young people in their priority setting for the next three years, which takes the form of the new Children & Young People’s Plan 2008-11.  Over the next three months the CYP Partnership Support Team will be coordinating a massive consultation exercise, giving as many people as possible the opportunity to have their say on how we can improve the lives of children and young people in Cornwall.

The consultation will be web and paper based but, rather than organise hundreds of awareness raising events, we hope to ‘piggy back’ existing events already planned by various groups.  You should see information on the consultation popping up in all sorts publications and websites.

If you’ve got something to say on priorities for children and young people’s services over the next three years, don’t miss this opportunity to have your voice heard.  We’d also be grateful if you could promote the consultation to as many people as possible.  There are surveys for parents, carers and practitioners as well as children and young people.  If you would prefer a paper copy, please do not hesitate to contact the CYP Partnership Support Team on 01872 323416 or email cypp@cornwall.gov.uk.
