One of the most stressful times any person can have is when they’re facing exams.
Here are some ways that you can be better prepared:
| " | Know what the examiner will be looking for. Be sure you understand the syllabus structure and content and how that will be reflected in the exam paper you are going to take. |
| " | Know how the paper will be marked so that you can get the most marks available. |
| " | Organise your notes/work according to the exam paper structure, that way you will associate certain pieces of work with the questions you are trying to answer and therefore feel in greater control. |
| " | Prepare well in advance. If you are going into Y11 then make sure you have everything you need from Y10 well organised, know where it is and have a clear idea of how you are going to use it. |
| " | It is handy to make notes on your work for revision. Start making notes early and then as a revision exercise make notes on notes. Every time you re-read your notes make notes on them and work yourself down to key words as a memory aide. |
| " | Revise with a friend. Test each other on knowledge, understanding and opinion - make sure you know the sort of questions you will be asked for the exam you are revising for. |
| " | If in doubt talk to a teacher/tutor. |
Be prepared to deal with stress. If you are getting worried about your exams then talk to someone. Parents can be really good, so can your friends. Some people get so stressed out they need professional help. School and colleges have access to professional help and you should ask if you are concerned about yourself or a friend.
