Have you ever heard the phrase "you are what you eat?"
Well in some ways it’s true!
How many of you have a snack at break time, or during the day? It’s OK to snack between meals, but it’s what you eat that makes the difference. How often do you eat a piece of fruit, or a salad for a snack? Or does crisps, chocolate and sweets sound more appetising to you?
It doesn’t take much to get overweight, but it’s harder to lose it! Also, when you are overweight you will generally feel self conscious about what you look like, and you may not be as confident.
There tend to be more people in your age group (13-19) today that are over weight than ever before! This is mainly due to all the fast food places like McDonalds, and different eating habits. Eating healthy doesn’t have to be dull and boring, here are a few pieces of advice to stay fit and healthy:
| " | Exercise regularly- even walking to school counts! |
| " | If you want a snack try not to make it crisps and chocolate all the time! |
| " | Eat about 5 pieces of fruit and vegetables a day. A glass of orange juice could count as one! |
| " |
Try and have three decent meals a day- you may not even feel the need to snack! |
