Plan how you will get home
Always plan how you will get yourself home after a night out in town or at a party. If you’re going to get a taxi, always make sure you keep enough money aside to pay for it and that you have some contact numbers. Sometimes it is easier to book one at the start of a night so that you don’t have to hang around and wait at the end of the evening. If you’re planning on walking home, make sure you are with at least one other person and that you walk a well lit route home.
Eat
You should always have something to eat before you start drinking, and if you don’t, as soon as possible after you start drinking.
Drink Water
Make sure that you drink water or soft drinks frequently through the night to help your body to process alcohol and to help prevent a nasty hangover the next day.
Rationale thinking
Remember that the more you drink, the worse you will look. Also the more that you drink, the better others may look, so you may choose a date that if you were sober and thinking rationally, you wouldn’t touch with a barge pole!
Buy your own drinks
Never ever accept a drink from someone you don’t trust e.g. a stranger. Don’t leave your drink unattended either because you could have your drink spiked.
Carry condoms
Make sure you always carry a condom, whether you are male or female it is better to be prepared. Make sure that you use it if you have sex.
Look out for each other
Ask your friends to look out for you and return the favour.
Don’t drink under pressure
Remember… if you don’t want to drink you don’t have to! Your friends are not true friend if they do not respect your decision. Don’t ever feel pressurised to do something just to fit in.
